- Bookkeeping: A CD has matured and has been renewed. Texstar funds are coming in. The District’s debt service payment is due on September 1st. The tax account report shows standard interest earnings. Funds have been transferred to the Operating account as needed. Regarding the Legends Ranch check, the December billing was lost, but corrective action was taken; a stop payment was placed, and a new check was issued. We are now at month seven of the fiscal year, and the budget is on track. All three districts have paid their respective shares of the required items. Director Cote asked legal services to contact an energy broker as the District’s five-year energy contract is nearing its expiration.
- Tax Exemptions: Were approved as is.
Infrastructure & Maintenance
- Drainage & Detention Ponds: Area received around 11 inches of rainfall within the last 90 days. Mowing and overseeing are on schedule. The proposal for crepe myrtle trimmings was declined. Nutria in the area continue to be an issue. One particular burrow collapsed, creating a sinkhole on a slope of a channel. Stuckey’s will create a proposal to distribute to surrounding MUDS to attempt to fix the nutria issue as a whole, working with Texas Parks and Wildlife.
- San Jacinto River Authority (SJRA) Matters: Director Slotnick discussed matters that occurred over the last two months, since being on the Board. He encouraged the rest of the Board and others to dial in and listen to the past meetings. Major legal counsel changes were noted.
- Legislative Matters: A resolution titled a ‘Request Consideration of Measures to Effectuate a Requirement for the Quarterly Reporting of Water Well Data to the Lonestar Groundwater Conservation District’, made it to the legislation in Austin, but will not move forward. Sponsorship was denied by a State Senator.
- Engineer’s Report: Lift Stations numbers 1, 2 and 3 are substantially complete. The Chicot Well was thoroughly discussed, including the possibility of incorporating it into next year’s elections. The Directors agreed on the importance of addressing the well within the next three years.
- Operator’s Report: March’s collections totaled $116K, with over nine million gallons of water consumed. With only 456 residents enrolled in the District’s ‘Eye on Water’ program, it was decided to send a text alert to all residents encouraging them to sign up. Directors Slotnick and Goodman agreed to attend the next meeting regarding Drought 2 measures as a subcommittee, urging the importance of all surrounding districts to abide by the Operator’s expertise and reporting. Stormwater brochures are expected to be in the next water bill, along with an online post when available.
