Sidewalk Extension Along Birnham Woods Drive

MCMUD No. 89 is currently in the design phase of a 5-foot wide concrete sidewalk extension along the west side of the recently widened Birnham Woods Drive from Elan Boulevard to the drainage channel crossing just south of Drew Meadows Drive and The Enclave. The total length of the proposed sidewalk is approximately 3,400 linear-feet. The project will connect to the existing ADA ramps at each of the intersections along the western side of Birnham Woods Drive. This new sidewalk will provide connectivity with the surrounding community and safe passage for kids and families to travel to and from nearby schools.

Construction is expected to begin Summer of 2020 and be complete prior to the start of school in the fall.

Storm Drainage Pump System is Operational

The Storm Drainage Pump System is operational and being monitored by Municipal Operations Consulting, as well as MUD 89. Please be safe and monitor local weather reports and warnings for the next several days.

Smart Meter Installations

On Monday, April 8 meter installations began in Montgomery County MUD 89. The installs will continue until all meters have been replaced with Ultrasonic Smart Meters. The process should take no more than a few weeks.

What to Expect as a homeowner:

Meter Installs typically take around 15 minutes, and the meter technician will knock on your door before the installation begins. Expect loss of water during time of install. Once the install is finished, if you have loss in pressure, open faucets in your home to release any air that may be in the line.

Upon completion of the project, door tags will be dispersed that will provide further information on how to take advantage of the benefits of your new meter. The meters will allow you to:

  • Monitor water usage on any internet-capable device
  • View a graphic presentation of your hourly consumption
  • Set leak alerts
  • Have more consistent meter readings and predictable billing

Please, be expecting your new meter within the upcoming weeks and prepare to take advantage of the new metering technology in the near future.

Sincerely,

Montgomery County MUD 89
